I was experimenting with shopping stroller- and carrier-free with Sprog yesterday. Results were mixed. He kept grabbing stuff and shoving it into his face before I could stop him. Including a miniature Yukon gold potato he pulled out of a bin and bit a big chunk off of. I decided I should just pay for that one.
I was able to keep him collared by the hood of the parka while we were in line. But I had to let go to fish out my wallet. I was trying to pay for our stuff and stop him from raiding the bakery display at the same time by blocking him with my leg. I ended up knocking him down in front of all the people waiting to check out.
He was caught in the spot of a track light as he began to tip over.
It seemed to happen in slow motion. A look of shock as he hit the floor . . . I started to hear that music from the end of Platoon. . . an outreached hand, the slow turn of a tear-stained face . . . a small, half-chewed Yukon gold potato rolls out of frame . .. the hand goes limp . . .
Scene.

Ha ha ha ha ha. I remember the time lapse thing whenever my daughter would fall down. But I remember it with horror because she always managed to fall right on her head.
